ChatGPT Integration with InsideSpin

As a validation of AI-augmented article writing, InsideSpin has integrated ChatGPT to help flesh out unfinished articles at the moment they are requested. If you have been a past InsideSpin user, you may have noticed not all articles are fully fleshed out. While every article has a summary, only about half are fleshed out. Decisions about what to finish has been based on user interest over the years. With this POC, ChatGPT will use the InsideSpin article summary as the basis of the prompt, and return an expanded article adding insight from its underlying model. The instances are being stored for later analysis to choose one that best represents the intent of InsideSpin which the author can work with to finalize. This is a trial of an AI-augmented approach. Email founder@insidespin.com to share your views on this or ask questions about the implementation.

Consulting Services

An opportunity for additional revenues -- not really. An opportunity to generate more product sales, for sure. Unless you are in the services business, consulting around your product family tends to be a necessary evil to secure key customers, especially when just starting out. Over time you should see an ecosystem of service partners develop that are more than happy to provide the consulting services for your product family -- let it happen. If it does not happen, you should question the size of your market.

The Challenge of Consulting Services

Few product companies successfully build large and meaningful service practices to go with it. The reality is that consulting services can often feel like a burden rather than a boon. Many entrepreneurs find themselves drawn into consulting roles, not out of desire, but necessity. This is especially true for technology businesses where the complexity of the product often requires additional guidance for customers.

It's essential to recognize that consulting services should not be viewed as a free service. Rather, they should generate revenue and create value for both the business and the customer. The question then becomes: how can businesses effectively establish and manage consulting services without becoming overwhelmed?

Building a Sustainable Consulting Practice

To create a successful consulting practice, consider the following principles:

Understanding the Market

A critical factor in the success of consulting services is understanding the market dynamics. If you find that there is little demand for consulting around your products, it may be time to reassess the viability of your market. Conducting market research can provide insights into customer needs and preferences, helping you tailor your offerings more effectively.

Moreover, understanding your target audience can help you position your consulting services appropriately. Are your customers looking for hands-on support, or do they prefer self-service options? Addressing these questions can significantly impact the success of your consulting practice.

Establishing Excellence in Consulting

To establish excellence in consulting services, consider implementing the following strategies:

Conclusion

While consulting services can feel like a necessary evil, they can also provide significant opportunities for growth and customer engagement. By carefully considering your approach and focusing on building a sustainable practice, you can turn what may initially seem like a challenge into a valuable business asset. Embrace the potential of consulting services, and allow your business to flourish in a competitive landscape.

Ultimately, the success of consulting services lies in the ability to create meaningful interactions with customers while generating revenue. By following the principles outlined above, technology entrepreneurs can navigate the complexities of consulting and harness its potential for long-term success.
