ChatGPT Integration with InsideSpin

As a validation of AI-augmented article writing, InsideSpin has integrated ChatGPT to help flesh out unfinished articles at the moment they are requested. If you have been a past InsideSpin user, you may have noticed not all articles are fully fleshed out. While every article has a summary, only about half are fleshed out. Decisions about what to finish has been based on user interest over the years. With this POC, ChatGPT will use the InsideSpin article summary as the basis of the prompt, and return an expanded article adding insight from its underlying model. The instances are being stored for later analysis to choose one that best represents the intent of InsideSpin which the author can work with to finalize. This is a trial of an AI-augmented approach. Email founder@insidespin.com to share your views on this or ask questions about the implementation.

Consulting Services

An opportunity for additional revenues -- not really. An opportunity to generate more product sales, for sure. Unless you are in the services business, consulting around your product family tends to be a necessary evil to secure key customers, especially when just starting out. Over time you should see an ecosystem of service partners develop that are more than happy to provide the consulting services for your product family -- let it happen. If it does not happen, you should question the size of your market.

Few product companies successfully build large and meaningful service practices to go with it (of course, it may be something that your product needs and only you can do it, so it can happen). It's still a services business and it should generate revenue if you dabble in this area at all - nothing for free. Let's examine how to get started and some of the basic principles that should be set up to establish excellence in this area.

Understanding the Role of Consulting Services

In the technology sector, consulting services can serve as a bridge between your product offerings and customer success. They are pivotal in helping clients maximize the value derived from your products, especially during the early stages of their adoption. The right consulting strategy can lead to higher customer satisfaction, retention, and ultimately, increased revenue.

The Necessity of Consulting Services

While consulting services may initially seem like a burden, they are often essential for securing key customers. Startups in particular may find that offering consulting is crucial to demonstrating the capabilities and value of their products. This necessity stems from several factors:

As your business matures, it is essential to cultivate a network of service partners who can provide consulting services on your behalf. This ecosystem can alleviate the burden on your internal resources and can also enhance the overall customer experience. Key steps to develop this ecosystem include:

Challenges and Considerations

While consulting services can be lucrative, they are not without challenges. Entrepreneurs should be aware of several key considerations:

Establishing Excellence in Consulting

To ensure your consulting services contribute positively to your business, focus on the following principles:

Conclusion

In conclusion, while consulting services may initially appear burdensome, they can be a vital component of your business strategy. By understanding their role, developing a strong ecosystem, and focusing on excellence, you can turn consulting into a valuable asset for your technology business. As you navigate these challenges, remember that the ultimate goal is to empower your customers and ensure they derive maximum value from your products.

With thoughtful planning and execution, consulting services can evolve from a necessary evil into a significant revenue stream and a cornerstone of customer success.
