ChatGPT Integration with InsideSpin

As a validation of AI-augmented article writing, InsideSpin has integrated ChatGPT to help flesh out unfinished articles at the moment they are requested. If you have been a past InsideSpin user, you may have noticed not all articles are fully fleshed out. While every article has a summary, only about half are fleshed out. Decisions about what to finish has been based on user interest over the years. With this POC, ChatGPT will use the InsideSpin article summary as the basis of the prompt, and return an expanded article adding insight from its underlying model. The instances are being stored for later analysis to choose one that best represents the intent of InsideSpin which the author can work with to finalize. This is a trial of an AI-augmented approach. Consulting Services

An opportunity for additional revenues -- not really. An opportunity to generate more product sales, for sure. Unless you are in the services business, consulting around your product family tends to be a necessary evil to secure key customers, especially when just starting out. Over time you should see an ecosystem of service partners develop that are more than happy to provide the consulting services for your product family -- let it happen. If it does not happen, you should question the size of your market. Few product companies successfully build large and meaningful service practices to go with it (of course, it may be something that your product needs and only you can do it, so it can happen). It's still a services business and it should generate revenue if you dabble in this area at all - nothing for free. Let's examine how to get started and some of the basic principals that should be set up to establish excellence in this area.

The Challenge of Consulting Services

Running a technology business often involves navigating a landscape filled with complexities. One of these is the challenge of providing consulting services. While it may seem like a natural extension of your product offerings, the reality is that consulting can become a double-edged sword. Entrepreneurs must understand that consulting services are not just another revenue stream; they can also divert focus from core product development and lead to resource strain.

Understanding the Value Proposition

Before embarking on a consulting journey, it is essential to clearly articulate the value proposition of these services. Customers often seek consulting because they need help maximizing the use of your products. Here are key aspects to consider:

Building an Ecosystem of Service Partners

As your business matures, the goal should be to cultivate an ecosystem of service partners. This not only alleviates the burden on your internal resources but also fosters a network of professionals who are invested in your product's success. Here are steps to consider:

Establishing a Revenue Model

Consulting services should generate revenue, even if they are secondary to your primary product offerings. Here are some revenue models to consider:

Setting Up for Success

To ensure that your consulting services thrive, it's crucial to establish certain principles from the outset:

Conclusion

In conclusion, while consulting services may not be the primary revenue driver for technology businesses, they can play a critical role in enhancing customer satisfaction and loyalty. By understanding the challenges, articulating the value, and creating a supportive ecosystem, entrepreneurs can navigate this complex landscape effectively. Remember, the key to success lies in not just offering consulting as a service, but in integrating it seamlessly into your overall business strategy.

With careful planning and execution, consulting services can indeed become a necessary and valuable component of your technology business.
