ChatGPT Integration with InsideSpin

As a validation of AI-augmented article writing, InsideSpin has integrated ChatGPT to help flesh out unfinished articles at the moment they are requested. If you have been a past InsideSpin user, you may have noticed not all articles are fully fleshed out. While every article has a summary, only about half are fleshed out. Decisions about what to finish has been based on user interest over the years. With this POC, ChatGPT will use the InsideSpin article summary as the basis of the prompt, and return an expanded article adding insight from its underlying model. The instances are being stored for later analysis to choose one that best represents the intent of InsideSpin which the author can work with to finalize. This is a trial of an AI-augmented approach. Email founder@insidespin.com to share your views on this or ask questions about the implementation.

Consulting Services

An opportunity for additional revenues -- not really. An opportunity to generate more product sales, for sure. Unless you are in the services business, consulting around your product family tends to be a necessary evil to secure key customers, especially when just starting out. Over time you should see an ecosystem of service partners develop that are more than happy to provide the consulting services for your product family -- let it happen. If it does not happen, you should question the size of your market.

Few product companies successfully build large and meaningful service practices to go with it (of course, it may be something that your product needs and only you can do it, so it can happen). It's still a services business and it should generate revenue if you dabble in this area at all - nothing for free. Let's examine how to get started and some of the basic principles that should be set up to establish excellence in this area.

Understanding the Consulting Landscape

The consulting landscape for technology businesses is often complex and varied. Initially, many entrepreneurs might view consulting as a straightforward way to enhance their revenue streams. However, it is crucial to understand that consulting requires significant effort and resources, often diverting attention from core business operations.

The Dual Nature of Consulting

Consulting can be seen as both an extension of your product offering and a standalone service. Here are some key aspects to consider:

Building a Consulting Ecosystem

Over time, successful technology companies often nurture an ecosystem of service partners. This network can help offer consulting services more efficiently. Consider the following steps:

Evaluating Market Size and Demand

If your ecosystem does not develop as expected, it may be time to reassess your market size and demand. Important metrics to consider include:

Setting Up a Successful Consulting Practice

To establish a consulting practice that can generate revenue, consider the following fundamental principles:

Conclusion

Consulting services can be a valuable component of a technology business, but they require careful planning and execution. By building an ecosystem of partners, understanding market demand, and establishing a clear service offering, entrepreneurs can create a consulting practice that not only supports their primary business but also provides meaningful revenue opportunities. Remember, consulting should never be an afterthought; it should be a strategic initiative aligned with your overall business goals.
