Re: Lead generation -- risk of too many leads

Thanks Cadman -- all that is very helpful. What about taking the money for leads and putting it into some other aspect of marketing as I don't want to push sales that much? I suppose most marketing activities would generate leads at some level -- do you think turning the pot into a SPIF program for ...

First PR after Investment

I'm close to closing my first round of financing with a strategic investor and am not sure how to approach our first PR. I can either make a big splash around the investment but cause some confusion given the strategic investor also has some products in my space (we're not sure how much they are rea...

First business visit to ASIA - anything to consider?

I'm making the first trip for our business to Asia, likely including China and Japan. I know its a bit early for us to head in this direction, but I'm in the region for other reasons and want to take advantage of the travel. What should I know about?

Re: When to go to 24x7 support

Thanks, all of this is helpful. I did not think about having our staff rotate on duty call with a pager. I could certainly pay them for being on duty and more if they actually have to field a call. I am a bit concerned about trying to 'sell' customers 24x7 support plans that are not standardized off...

Re: When to go to 24x7 support

Thanks for all of this -- i think the way to go seems like providing level 1 support as needed until critical mass requires something more permanent. I also am liking these on-line chats I see some sites now supporting. There are times when the support person could use better typing skills, but they...

Managing legal complexity

My company is in the middle of creating a bunch of new legal documents for my business -- including stock option plans. I am concerned that our lawyer is creating a doc set too complex for the typical employee to be able to understand without significant legal review (and costs). I want to create th...

I have been asked to be a Board member --

A startup company has asked me to become a Board member, representing the Common shareholders. I have asked about D&O insurance, given the risks involved. What else should I ask about and what should I know about the responsibilities of this role?

I'm having bad luck, what do I do?

I seem to have trouble loosing key employees at crucial times in our operational activities. They say they are leaving to pursue changes in career, but I am concerned they are leaving because they don't find our business challenging enough. Combined with the poor economy, the difficulty in getting i...

I have not time to do time management

I find I have no time to properly organize my day, let alone send time setting objectives for my team. Needless to say, each day is hectic, but I get a lot done. What should I do -- i can't stop for a few days to change my ways, things seem to be going well. I would appreciate any advice on this one.

Re: Working around the "curse of knowledge"?

Great topic and I sympathize with it - a while ago I was involved in a Company hip deep in search engine technology -- before google this was an area of little customer expertize and we always had to dumb down the explanation until we found something that resonated with the prospect. Some things we ...
