Interviewing - Topgrading - anyone familiar with it?

Various definitions seem to exist. There is a book called topgrading which seems to promote structured interviews so that one can make an objective assessment of candidates.

Topgrading on Wikipedia

One recruiter summed it up "As attempting to get the right guy for the right job. You want to hire A players and don't want to compromise your standards/expectations" To which my first thought was "Isn't that what everyone wants?"

Anyone ever try this method? Pros/cons? More success than not using this method.

Anyone ever experienced it as a candidate? Curious to know your experiences - good/bad/otherwise
